A patriotic moment...

Yesterday was Veteran's Day. I didn't realize this until I was trapped driving in circles in downtown Austin on my way to work. The roads were closed for a parade, and I could not for the life of me get around it. I was stressed about being late and frustrated that this federal holiday (on a Tuesday no less) was starting my day off on a bad note.

But then I remembered...I am the child of two veterans. My mom and dad served 20 years each in the US Air Force. They both served deployments in the Middle East in the 90's. Both my grandfathers, a grandmother, step-grandfather, aunt, uncle, and cousin have all served in the armed forces. It's kind of like the family business.

While I do not appreciate getting stuck in a maze of detours for a parade, I DO appreciate the service of the women and men of the armed forces so much. It takes a special kind of dedication, and even though Veteran's Day was yesterday, I wanted to take a moment to recognize these heroes. Thanks for your bravery and service of our country!
