Birthday + BBQ + Mat Kearney

Today I'm heading out for family vacation , but last night, I had birthday date with Liz.  Her birthday isn't until Thursday, but since I'll be gone, I wanted to celebrate with her before I leave town.  Our first stop was Lambert's, a fancy barbecue restaurant in downtown Austin.  It was so delicious.  It took less than 60 seconds for us to decide what we wanted to order.  Seriously amazing

Obligatory car pic
The birthday girl
Fried green tomatoes with crab meat
Waffle fries and baked mac&cheese
Brisket and pickled veggies (aka the spiciest thing I've ever put in my mouth...
it took 10 minutes of burning for my lips to feel normal)

Then we headed over to Central Presbyterian Church right by the Capitol building to see Mat Kearney.

The setup at Central Presby...amazing acoustics in that church

Here comes a series of bored waiting pictures

Just Mat Kearney and Tyler Markum, a couple guitars, and a piano
The end when they came into the crowd and did an a capella version of "I Shall Be Released"...incredible.

Here's a video (from my phone so the quality isn't great) of MK covering "Dancing in the Dark"

And playing "Fire & Rain" from his most recent album.

Such a great night and a way to go on vacay with a bang.  Definitely a favorite night with a favorite friend.  Happy Birthday, Liz!
