Proud Daughter

I mentioned before my parents came up to Austin this past weekend, and the reason they came was very exciting indeed.  My dad is a runner and always has been.  He loves it.  Even when it's painful (several knee surgeries and back surgery kind of painful), he has stuck with it.  I think that's where I get my stubborn persistence to run through pain.

This weekend we got to celebrate a big accomplishment for my papa...he ran (and finished!) the 3M Half Marathon.  I'm just still so incredibly proud of him.  My prayer the week leading up to it was just that he'd finish.  My prayer while I was running was that God would touch his knees and back and give him supernatural strength to run. God is faithful. It was a thrill for me watch him cross the finish line at the end.

Liz and I ran a half marathon relay too, which was so much fun.  I felt so good and joyful the entire 6.5 mile run, and it definitely lit a fire in me to train for a half.

Here's us before the race...around 6:30 in the morning:

And a random collection of phone pictures taken by my mom and I:

The lead runners at the halfway point...took them about 30 minutes to run 6.5 miles

I just love...she looks so happy

Pop about to cross the finish line! So proud!

Post race

You may have to enlarge this picture to see but if you look down towards the bottom (#9 to be exact), you will see Team Frilliams clocking in with a time just over 2 hours.  Out of 44 female relay teams, we were 9th.  I think that's pretty cool.  My journey to be a runner has taught me patience and surrender, so I praise God for little accomplishments like this!

I loved having my parents in Austin...it was such an encouragement and comfort for me to have them here! I hope they come again soon :)
