Birthday Highlights

Hello all. Sorry for the blog silence the past couple days. First I was having way too much fun with my family, and then I was trying to jump right back into a full week of work craziness.

My actual birthday was so lovely. I'm a low-key person, and I wanted a low-key birthday.

This is how it went down: I woke up and went for a walk with my mom, ate breakfast with the family, went for pedicures with my mom and sister, had lunch at my favorite place in Kingwood, then spent the afternoon reading and watching football. It was all topped off by a good home-cooked meal and  dessert. My birthday plans of watching the UT vs. Rice game were almost thwarted, but I found an online stream of the game. Love that my birthday was capped off by a Texas win.

Here are some random pictures and details from the day:

This may not look too special but I hardly ever eat bagels, so this was delicious.
Half Asiago bagel with cream cheese and half plain with peanut butter.

My little man

The best chicken salad you'll ever taste from Chelsea's Deli in Kingwood.
(p.s. do you like how we use paper plates in my family?)

Texas game streamed online...thank you technology!

I got the birthday dessert I requested...cookie dough brownies. It was basically like
brownie cake with cookie dough frosting. When paired with vanilla ice cream, it's
one of the most delicious desserts ever.

I also read this book all weekend and finished it on Sunday. Loved it!
Definitely lived up to the hype and now I can't wait to see the movie.

The one thing I didn't get to do on my birthday was hang out in the pool due to some rain. If you've been following the news at all, you know that lots of Texas is burning because of wildfires and the drought, so I'm not complaining about some rain.

There were many moments where I laughed so hard I could breathe. Like the time on my birthday that my dad almost choked on a piece of steak, and I literally could not stop laughing. Clearly I don't have the best response in medical emergencies.

It was a very good start to 24, that's fo sho!
